The Right Way For Personal Data Recovery

Share

This law aims to prepare the country for the challenges of the digital transition and aims to help develop the economy of tomorrow.

It envisages both new rights for the benefit of Internet users and consumers, but also new practical difficulties.

Personal is any information that may be collected about a person via the internet. Cookies, now well known to everyone, are the materialization of the digital footprint left by everyone on the internet as soon as they surf the web.

But personal data can be general information provided by the user such as name, contact details, but it can also be more private data such as the IP number of the internet connection, the history of sites visited, location, images, photos or videos, etc.

According to the law, without prejudice to the provisions protecting commercial and industrial secrecy and intellectual property rights, any provider of an online public communication service must offer the consumer a free feature allowing the recovery.

These data are retrieved in an open standard, easily reusable and usable by an automated processing system. This data facilitates the change of service provider or allows access to other services.

The identification of data takes into account the economic importance of the services concerned, the intensity of competition between suppliers, the usefulness for the consumer, the frequency and the financial stakes of the use of these services.
